Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi, Shri V.K. Saxena distributed appointment letters to 629 newly recruited government officials in a function held today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

In another step towards the commitment to fill up vacant permanent posts in Govt. of NCT of Delhi and to provide youth with enhanced employment opportunities, Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi Shri V.K. Saxena today handed over 629 appointment letters to newly recruited government servants in a function organized by Services Department of Government of NCT of Delhi, held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The newly recruited candidates will be appointed in various departments/local bodies/autonomous bodies of Delhi viz. Directorate of Education, Development Department, Health & Family Welfare Department, Directorate of Training & Technical Education, Delhi Transport Corporation, Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council, Irrigation & Flood Control Department, Delhi Transco Ltd, Delhi Development Authority etc. These new appointees include in large number of females, Divyangs and candidates from reserved categories.

The event was fifth consecutive function of its kind, following the previous functions held on 24.02.2023, 19.04.2023, 30.06.2023 and 09.01.2024. During these events, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor has distributed approximately 3800 appointment letters so far. The Chief Secretary, Delhi accompanied by the Heads of different departments, local bodies and autonomous bodies of the Government of NCT of Delhi, as well as other esteemed guests, graced this event with their presence.

Addressing the newly appointed officials, Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi Shri V.K. Saxena congratulated the new appointees on behalf of the people of Delhi. He said that no post is small or big, it is the responsibility towards the job which matters and one has to show their commitment, dedication & sincerity towards whatever job they are assigned to, with full conviction. Hon’ble Lt. Governor further emphasized that a government job is not just a means of livelihood, but an opportunity to serve the nation and make an important contribution in the progress of our country.

Addressing the audience, Hon’ble Lt. Governor said that these permanent recruitments are in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision to have ‘Viksit Bharat’ by the year 2047. He also directed to fill all vacancies as soon as possible, so that citizen centric services may be improved in Delhi.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor also urged to newly appointed Government employee to continue their learning process and to perform their duties as a government servant with great vigour and zeal combined with utmost honesty and transparency for betterment of the people of Delhi and make Delhi as a role model to be followed by the people from other parts of the country.

The Chief Secretary, Delhi Shri Naresh Kumar congratulated the newly recruited officials on their entry into government service of Government of NCT of Delhi and urged them that they should start working with full passion and enthusiasm from day one. The Chief Secretary also informed that around 17,000 appointments have been made to various departments in last two and half years. He also emphasized to prepare the roadmap for Capacity Building of government employees. The Chief Secretary further said that there is felt need to have a foolproof examination system including the cyber security aspects.

Shri A. K. Singh, Principal Secretary (Services) delivered the welcome speech and congratulated the new appointees. He stated that under the guidance and directions of Hon’ble Lt. Governor and aligning with ‘Aatmnirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojna’ of Hon’ble Prime Minister, today’s event is the reflection of our commitment to empower young talent. He has further stated that Services Department has put in excellent efforts in not only speeding up the recruitments but also transforms the overall process into a more transparent and fair mechanism.

Highlighting the achievements of DSSSB, Shri Shurbir Singh, Chairman, DSSSB stated that under the esteemed leadership of Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi and guidance of the Chief Secretary of Delhi, in last two years DSSSB had conducted examinations for 177 different posts. He has further informed that all backlog vacancies have also been disposed off and the results for the exams conducted till March 2024 have been declared. Shri Shurbir Singh also informed that as on date around 18,000 vacancies are under different stages of recruitment which will be completed soon. He assured that DSSSB will continue to work with the same efficient and transparent way under the guidance of Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi.

Few of the newly appointed government employees also shared their experience and expressed their gratitude & vowed to work with utmost dedication, honesty and integrity.

The function ended with vote of thanks by Shri Ravi Jha, District Magistrate (New Delhi).
