MDNIY and Assam Rifles Sign MoU to Foster Holistic Wellness Through Yoga

NEW DELHI- Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), led by the Director Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, has signed an agreement with Assam Rifles, represented by Maj Gen Jai Singh Bainsla, Additional Director Generalon 24th September,2024.

This collaboration aims to integrate Yoga into the wellness and training programs of Assam Rifles, enhancing the health, resilience, and personal development of their personnel. It reflects a shared commitment to indigenous health practices and supports the armed forces in maintaining optimal performance amid operational challenges.

The MoU outlines a comprehensive collaboration where MDNIY will design and deliver tailored Yoga programs to meet the specific physical and mental health needs of Assam Rifles personnel. These programs will focus on enhancing physical endurance, mental alertness, and stress management, critical skills for personnel deployed in demanding terrains and high-pressure situations.

As part of the agreement, MDNIY will conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions at various Assam Rifles training centres across the country. Additionally, research studies will be undertaken to assess the impact of Yoga on both the physical and psychological well-being of the personnel. Region-specific Yoga protocols will also be explored to address the diverse climatic and geographical conditions wherein Assam Rifles operates.

On this occasion, Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director, MDNIY, stated, “We propose a 3-day workshop for the medical doctors of Assam Rifles to equip them with the skills to manage stress, identify common disorders, and detect early signs of diabetes, thereby extending the benefits of Yoga to those in need.”

Maj Gen Jai Singh Bainsla in his remarks mentioned that Yoga programs have already been integrated into the training curriculum of the Assam Rifles. He emphasized on collaboration with MDNIY for Yoga programs to enhance the overall well-being and resilience of the personnel. He also mentioned that Hon’ble PM Sh. Narendra Modi Ji is very keen in introducing Yoga to the armed forces & paramilitary forces.

Dr. I.N Acharya, Program Officer and Md. Taiyab Alam, C&DO from MDNIY along with Col. Navjot Singh from Assam Rifles were present during the occasion.
