NEW DELHI- Delhi Branch Office -1 of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized a Stakeholders’ Conclaveon September as a warm up for World Standards Day 2024 celebration. The conclave brought together around 160 participants from a wide range of stakeholders including representatives from industry, government bodies, academia, NGOs and RWAs to discuss the critical role that standards play in ensuring quality, safety and sustainability in various sectors.
The conclave was inaugurated by Ms. Ankita Anand, District Magistrate, North West Delhi. She briefly mentioned the role of standards in the daily lives of the people and emphasized on the need for collaborative efforts from all stakeholders for their proper implementation.
Shri Jitender Kumar, Director and Head of Delhi Branch Office-1, addressed the participants and outlined the organization’s initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of standardization across industries.He also emphasized that how standards contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in sectors such as energy efficiency, water managementand green buildings.
Interactive Sessions: The event also featured interactive sessions through the presentations delivered by Shri Ritwik Anand and Shri Divyanshu Yadav, bothJt Directors from BIS, where stakeholders had the opportunity to share their experiences, challengesand recommendations for improving the standards development process in India. These sessions provided valuable insights for BIS in refining its future initiatives.
The conclave reaffirmed the significance of collaborative efforts between the government, industry and civil society in the development and implementation of standards. It underscored the critical role standards play in promoting sustainable development, innovation, and economic growth.
