One dead, two injured in scooter–motorcycle collision in Baijnath; Separate hit-and-run case registered

Dharamshala- One person was killed and two others injured after a scooter rammed into a motorcycle in Paprola market of Baijnath in Kangra district, police said on Friday.
Kangra district superintendent of police Ashok Ratan told UNI that the accident occurred when a scooter (HP53B-8543) driven by Rampal, a resident of Baijnath, allegedly hit a motorcycle (HP53C-1310) driven by Sachin of Ustehad village due to rash and negligent driving.
SP Kangra said that in the collision, Sachin, his brother Saurav, who was riding pillion, and a passerby, Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 3, Baijnath, sustained injuries.
All three were rushed to Civil Hospital Baijnath for treatment, where doctors declared Rakesh Kumar dead.
Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and started further investigation. In another incident on the same day at Alhilal, an unidentified driver of a vehicle (HP53-0770) allegedly hit a motorcycle (HP37F-0228) driven by Banni Kumar of Sapedu Kandwadi village in Palampur tehsil and fled the spot.
Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act, and efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver.
